Modern protection, clearly priced

Upgrade your fuse board (consumer unit) with individual Type A RCBO protection and surge protection (SPD). From £600 for the smallest straightforward installation.

The final price depends on the number of circuits and the condition of the existing installation. We confirm your quotation before booking the work.

Secure your confirmed installation date

Once we have agreed your written quotation and installation date, use the secure button below to pay the £100 deposit. It secures your booking and will be deducted from your final invoice. Please do not pay before we confirm your quotation and date.

What’s included

  • Assessment of your existing installation
  • A modern metal consumer unit with individual RCBOs and SPD
  • Testing, circuit labelling and electrical certification
  • A separate quotation for any additional remedial work
  • An automatic fire-suppression module fitted inside the consumer unit for additional protection

What “from £600” means

£600 is our starting price for a straightforward upgrade: a smaller number of circuits, existing wiring in good condition, and lighting and accessories that are safe and working. Your written quotation confirms the final price before any work is booked.

Your certificate and Building Control notification

When the existing circuits pass inspection and testing, you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) for the new consumer unit, and we notify Building Control through our NICEIC scheme, as required for consumer unit replacements.

Terms: if existing circuits do not pass

A new fuse board can only be certified when the existing wiring passes inspection and testing — including insulation resistance, earth continuity, earth fault loop impedance, polarity and RCBO operation — and the lighting and accessories are compliant and working. Fitting a new board does not by itself make an installation satisfactory.

If we find a defect, such as damaged cables, missing earths or faulty accessories, we will show you the photos and test readings and give you a written price to put it right before doing any extra work. Nothing is added to your bill without your agreement.

Why individual RCBOs, not a dual RCD board?

We fit a fully RCBO board rather than a split-load dual RCD consumer unit. With individual RCBOs, a fault on one circuit trips only that circuit — the rest of your home or business stays powered. With a dual RCD board, a single fault can knock out half of your property at once.

Depending on the property and the circuits involved, we may also recommend fitting an AFDD (Arc Fault Detection Device) for extra protection against arc faults — we’ll flag this in your written quotation if it applies.

Our guarantee

Every fuse board upgrade comes with a 1-year guarantee covering the consumer unit and our installation work — if a fault develops with the fuse board itself within that year, we’ll put it right.

The guarantee covers the fuse board; it doesn’t extend to your existing wiring or to appliances plugged into the installation. Before work starts we inspect the condition of the existing wiring terminations connecting into the new board, and any concerns are agreed with you in writing before we proceed. The guarantee doesn’t cover damage caused after completion by another trade or by the customer.

Unsatisfactory EICR or a high quote? Get a second opinion

Many customers contact us after receiving an unsatisfactory EICR, a very high quote, or a long list of work that does not seem necessary. We are happy to give an honest second opinion.

Please send:

  • your latest EICR — all pages, including the schedule of test results
  • clear photos of your fuse board and of each item coded C1, C2 or FI

We will tell you which items genuinely need fixing and which do not. If you then book a fuse board upgrade, the latest EICR helps us give you a more accurate quotation.

Arrange your upgrade

Send your postcode and a photo of the existing fuse board. We’ll review the circuit count, confirm whether a visit is needed and provide a written quotation.

Is £600 the final price?

It is a starting price. Larger boards and installations needing remedial work cost more. Your written quotation confirms the total.

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes. The installation is tested and the appropriate electrical certification is provided.
